About Us
Strong Roots, Bright Canopies, Happier Communities
Your Trusted Partner for Healthier Trees and Happier Landscapes
Where others see trees, we see stories—of homes, communities, and the vibrant life they foster. At Benton Tree Service, we’ve spent over 19 years cultivating not just healthier landscapes, but deeper connections with the people and neighborhoods we serve. Our team thrives on more than expertise—it’s our passion for preserving New Orleans’ natural beauty that drives everything we do.
We don’t just work with trees; we work with people. Our passion comes alive in our relationships with clients and the community. Whether it’s removing a storm-damaged tree, shaping a canopy with precision pruning, or providing expert advice as licensed arborists, we approach every job as an opportunity to make New Orleans a greener, stronger place.
But we’re more than your typical tree service. We’re your neighbors, committed to enhancing this city we all love. We’re the tree whisperers homeowners trust, the green thumbs who give back to the environment, and—on occasion—the heroes who’ve rescued a few stuck cats. At Benton Tree Service, we’re not just growing trees; we’re growing trust across this beautiful city.
From Treehouses to Treelines
How Tim Benton Turned a Childhood Passion into a Lifelong Mission
Meet Tim Benton, our founder and head arborist—an explorer, a craftsman, and a proud New Orleanian with a lifelong bond to the natural world. Born at Touro Infirmary, Tim’s roots run deep in the Crescent City. Though he spent part of his childhood wandering the Mississippi farmlands, New Orleans always called him home, like soil calls to the roots of a tree.
As a boy, Tim wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. He built treehouses, fished by sunlit rivers, and even drove tractors before most kids could balance on a bike. While other kids were chasing fireflies, Tim was learning the rhythms of the earth. This early connection to nature wasn’t just a pastime—it became a passion that grew stronger with age.
Now, with over 25 years of professional arborist experience, and another 5 years of experience in horticulture, as well as an impressive array of horticulture certifications, Tim brings not just expertise but also a genuine love for every tree and every yard he works on. He believes that caring for trees is more than just a job—it’s a way to protect and preserve the soul of the community he calls home.

Tim’s passion has shaped our commitment to quality, safety, and sustainability at Benton Tree Service. When you choose us, you’re choosing a team that treats every tree like it’s part of the family—and that’s a promise rooted in Tim’s extraordinary life and vision.
Growing a Greener Future for New Orleans
At Benton Tree Service, our love for New Orleans goes far beyond its iconic skyline or charming streetcars—it’s woven into the very roots of our city’s natural beauty. We believe trees are the heart of a thriving community, and that’s why we’ve made it our mission to give back in ways that leave a lasting mark.
To date, we’ve proudly donated over 6,000 trees to nonprofits and community organizations, helping to restore and rejuvenate green spaces where they’re needed most. But we didn’t stop there. We’ve also planted more than 200 majestic live oaks in under-served neighborhoods, ensuring that even the most overlooked corners of our city can enjoy the beauty, shade, and vitality that trees bring.
Tim Benton’s philosophy is as simple as it is powerful—plant more trees than you cut down. This guiding principle drives every community-focused project we undertake. Through meaningful partnerships with respected organizations like the Audubon Institute and Lafitte Greenway, we’re not just improving landscapes but empowering neighborhoods and fostering connections between people and nature.
